Chenies Manor Plant Fair

HPSMG was pleased to have a stand again at this year’s Plant Fair at Chenies Manor. Our display this year was very traditional, we used a lot of grasses, hostas and ivy to create a cool looking border on this very hot Sunday.

The white flowers are Gauras, Scabiosa incisa ‘Kudo White’ and Leucanthemum ‘Miss Muffet’ and we also had a group of Centaurea “Silver Feather’ and the soft mauve flowers picked up the colour of the lavenders. Many thanks to Farnham Common Nursery who loaned us all the plants and the team who worked hard to put the display together.

Angela Fleming’s Open Day

Angela Fleming, one of HPSMG’s Committee members, opened her garden on 7th July. Angela had designed the garden herself from scratch and had turned potentially challenging aspects, such as its slope, into a feature. The view down the garden from the terrace, where we enjoyed coffee and cakes, was impressive with unusual planting, a vine covered pergola and pots containing a wide variety of succulents. We are grateful to Angela for sharing her garden with us and for all her hard work in a very hot summer.

Coach Trip to Capel Manor and Myddleton House Gardens

The sun was shining when we visited Myddleton House and Capel Manor Gardens at the end of June. Both gardens were spectacular and we were fortunate to have a very informative tour of Capel Manor by its former principal Stephen Dowbiggin, who explained the history of the garden and the concepts behind the planting in the individual themed gardens, including its royal connections. Our only regret was that we didn’t have more time to enjoy these wonderful places.
